Who am I?

I am an experienced and fully chartered psychologist with a recognised qualification in coaching. As a member of the British Psychological Society  I subscribe fully to the BPS Code of Ethics and Conduct.
I run an independent consultancy in positive psychology coaching, and have also contributed modules on emotional and social health to accredited university courses.

After a childhood in the Cotswolds, I studied psychology at Manchester University, then I qualified as a teacher before completing postgraduate training as an educational psychologist at the Tavistock Clinic, London. During my 25 year career as a psychologist in educational settings in different parts of the country I developed specialisms in stress management, self-esteem and effective learning .
I also qualified as a counsellor.

Much of my work involved working alongside adults and children to help them find ways to succeed, often in the face of daunting difficulties.
I am indebted to all of them for the wisdom and judgement I gained, and the abiding respect it has given me for the human resilience in the world.
I have learned, above all, that to reach any summit - no matter what level, the first rung on the ladder is self belief. Much of my experience has proved the essential truth in the saying:

WHETHER YOU THINK YOU CAN.........
OR WHETHER YOU THINK YOU CAN'T...............
YOU'RE PROBABLY RIGHT.
(Henry Ford)

I believe that everyone can find a route to happiness if they have a willingness to grow, and understand that others can help along the way.....
My style follows the principles of positive psychology, but I regard each coaching partnership as unique.  We work out a way the suits the partnership.
I do share my own thoughts, avoid jargon and believe that coaching can be ambitious and enjoyable.

Who is coaching for?

Anyone from any walk of life can find value in coaching. Life follows a unique pattern for each of us and present us with choices in these situations that continually unfold before us.

However there are times when those choices do not come easily , and you may ask yourself the question: "Which way now?"

This is when coaching may be an opportunity for you. If, for example....

You are frustrated in seeing your way ahead
You are feeling stuck or unfulfilled
You are drifting
You are facing decisions or dilemmas
You are not happy with how you see yourself
You are recovering from a setback
You are rethinking your life
You are going through a time of transition or change
You just want more out of life
